Festival dates for 2020 are July 28th to August 2nd!
What is SENTIENT Fest? (formerly known as the Northeast Naturist Festival or NENF). It is Body Honor, Body Justice and Body Autonomy with self and others in nature! The canvas is the beautiful wooded grounds, mountain air and galaxies above at Empire Haven Nudist Resort and Campground.
Who we are: We are a highly intentioned “pop-up” community of individuals, couples and families that come from around the world to convene with nature in a spa-like environment. Attendees get to choose from a selection of over 150 personal enrichment workshops.
Over 6 days, we feature varied and engaging keynote speakers, plays, crucial movies, live music, art installations, ecstatic dance, body painting, multi-hand massage (by consent experts), flow culture, potluck and community picnics, guided saunas, recovery workshops, daily yoga, water aerobics, performance art, Kidz Club, nightly drum circles, human sexuality workshops, Paytra’s Coffeehouse, bonfires, beverage tastings from regional favorites like Summerhill Brewing – and their aptly titled “Naked Neighbor Amber”! Or just enjoy napping/relaxing the day away at the pool, conversation tub, suana or jacuzzi. Feel free to wander the grounds (97 lush acres) or try our unique team sport offerings (Pickleball, Slapong and Petanque)!

In 2019 we made Festival history by offering “NAKED IN THE AIR”, our first nude tethered hot air balloon ride! Every year we elevate our event by offering new and vital facilitators, performers, volunteers and workshop providers! If you are interested in being a participant please see our application portal along with filling out our “Festival Warm-Up” and viewing our Code of Conduct!
Where are we?: We are centrally located just an hour south of Syracuse, NY and 30 minutes north of Ithaca, NY (a small city rich in the arts and culinary delights, home of Buttermilk & Taughannock Falls, Ithaca Farmers Market, Cornell & Ithaca College and world renowned for its wine trail). Just minutes from the Festival are Cortland (home of SUNY Cortland and the Seedstock Festival), Homer (Homer Center for the Arts) and Moravia, NY. All these locales offer activities, eateries, shopping and grocery stores.
The festival itself takes place at scenic Empire Haven Nudist Resort and Campground (celebrating their 60th anniversary of clothing optional camping) http://www.empirehaven.net. The camp sits 1600 feet above sea level (the air is delicious!)is geographically located beside the Summerhill State Forest and sits on a secluded hilltop above Fillmore Glen State Park and Owasco Lake. For lovers of American history, there is a historical landmark just minutes from the camp which represents the birthplace of Millard Fillmore, the 13th President of the United States! In addition is the wonderful New York State Equal Rights Heritage Center located just 20 minutes away in Auburn, NY!
